Utah Decides On Green!

In collaboration with the Utah Building Energy Efficiency Strategies (UBEES) team, The Cadmus Group, Inc.’s Green Building Practice is helping Utah develop a statewide program to benchmark the energy use of public buildings and private commercial structures.

The project is being performed under a recently awarded contract with the Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM). It will include outreach, education, and technical support for benchmarking energy use with EPA’s Portfolio Manager, an interactive online tool for benchmarking commercial facilities.

With the State of Utah possessing one of the greatest energy efficiency potentials in the country, Cadmus will assess the market for benchmarking and energy efficiency programs to determine which sectors have the greatest potential for energy efficiency improvements and are the best targets for the state's efforts. Cadmus will also evaluate similar energy efficiency programs to identify possible duplications of effort, as well as opportunities to collaborate on program activities.

Cadmus will promote the benefits of energy benchmarking and efficiency through online and on-site training for energy managers and building professionals in how to use Portfolio Manager.

In addition, Cadmus will engage the UBEES task force subcommittee on benchmarking. Led by the governor’s energy advisor, the UBEES task force provides leadership in energy efficiency through education, program coordination, and technical assistance.
